4 THINGS NOT TO DO WHEN PUTTING YOUR HOME ON THE MARKET

  • Don’t Over Improve – some improvements are a no brainer.  For example, updating appliances, painting cabinets, maybe replacing a cracked tile or two.  But avoid projects that are “hyper-specific” to your tastes.
  • Don’t Over Decorate – Neutrals are always best when prepping your home for sale.  “You may love the look of lace and lavender, but your potential buyer may enter your home and cringe”.
  • Don’t Hang Around –  buyers want to imagine themselves in your space, not you.  They must feel free to analyze and judge for themselves if the home meets their needs.
  • Don’t Take Things Personally – if you get a low-ball offer, or a buyer wants to replace the carpet for something more modern, don’t take offense.  Remember:  this is business.
