Ocean Beach, otherwise known as O.B., is the quintessential San Diego beach town. Laid back, full of surfers, and dog friendly, the palm-lined streets feature everything from small beach bungalows to larger Spanish-style homes. The neighborhood attracted the “hippie” element in the 60s, many of whom stayed to open businesses and became the entrepreneurs of the 70s and 80s. Today, OB has become known for its fishing pier and Dog Beach. It is still a low-key enclave with boutiques and antiques stores attracting shoppers along Newport Avenue.
