Point Loma
The Point Loma peninsula is home to 63,000 plus residents who enjoy its location near the heart of the city and its spectacular skyline and ocean views. Some lucky homeowners have views of both. The Navy is one of the largest land holders on the Point. Fort Rosecrans Military Reservation and National Cemetery run almost the length of the Peninsula.
Point Loma is also known for its secluded coves and spectacular cliffs. Sunset Cliffs Natural Park stretches along the Pacific Ocean side of the peninsula offers spectacular ocean views and California Gray Whale watching during the annual migration from Alaska to Baja. The Tide Pools along the base of the cliffs below the park offer visitors a chance to see various species of marine life up close and personal.
Point Loma offers neighborhoods to suit all lifestyles. The newly-build Liberty Station features detached houses and condos within walking distance of shopping and dining. Loma Portal has large, older Spanish-style houses built in the 1930s and 1940s. La Playa is just a stone’s throw from the San Diego Bay and within easy walking distance of yacht clubs, and features sprawling estates with lush landscaping, homes, and a few condos. The Wooded Area is located at the crest of the ridge and features many beautiful homes with ocean or Bay views. Other fantastic neighborhoods include Point Loma Heights, Fleetridge, and Roseville.
